At Calvary Baptist Church we support various missionaries and missions organizations in order to help bring the Gospel across Canada and around the world.
We have partnered with the following organizations and/or individuals through financial support, prayer support or volunteer support.
Murray & Laustsen Families
The Murray family — Aaron, Melissa and their two boys, Sawyer and Weston — came to Sioux Lookout, Ontario in 2015 from Southern Ontario. Aaron pastored the children and youth in our church for 4 years while Melissa worked as a Speech Language Pathologist for the Northwestern Health Unit and helped with children and women’s ministry.
The Laustsen family — Zach, Olive and their daughter, Sage — moved to Sioux Lookout one year later from Nova Scotia. Zach was a key leader for our youth and used his gifts for the building up of our church through worship ministry and Olive operated a private ceramics studio from home.
In God’s providence these families crossed paths here at Calvary Sioux Lookout. A friendship began and a shared desire to see the name of Christ worshipped across Canada bound our families together. The firm belief that the message of the gospel must be heard and seen bound these families together. Under the care of our church family they began to pursue a missionary calling together. In September of 2020 we joyfully sent these families to Quebec to pursue church planting in the difficult mission field of Quebec. We look forward to Calvary being part of the birth of new churches in Quebec through these families.
Soli Deo Gloria,

Paul & Joanne Janzen
Paul & Joanne joined NCEM as full-time missionaries in 2019, but had previously served since 1994 in First Nations ministry in northwestern Ontario and Saskatchewan.
They now live in Edmonton, AB, close to their two adult daughters.
They are involved with relational ministry with many people whose lives they’ve been a part of throughout the years… while assisting some of NCEM’s new missionary candidates… also, taking calls on the Tribal Trails TV spiritual helpline … plus “Clear Lake R&R” (summer opportunities to host people in ministry, providing accommodations in Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba).
The Janzens continue to find opportunities to care for and encourage their First Nations friends and others serving alongside First Nations people.
Tom & Lee Castor of Clear and Simple Media
Clear and Simple Media is a ministry that seeks to help people understand the Bible. We do this by writing books and telling stories in Simple English.
Clear and Simple Media began in concept in the late 1970s motivated by a desire to communicate essential biblical truths in complex cross-cultural environments. Today, after more than 40 years of research and experimentation, we write, publish, and distribute material in more than 50 languages in over 40 countries.
Our goal is to build a growing catalogue of materials that are linguistically simple, theologically clear and biblically faithful.
Andrea Clark of ABWE

Dalberg's of YWAM

Branden and Val have always had a passion to use their professions in missions. Branden is an Electrician and Val is a Registered Nurse. They completed their discipleship training school with YWAM in 2016 and have served with YWAM over the following years in multiple places. While staffing a YWAM base in the Dominican Republic assisting with Homes of Hope they felt God calling them back to Branden’s hometown in NW Ontario to pioneer YWAM Sunset Country in 2020. YWAM Sunset Country was officially approved as a location in June 2021.
Their heart is to train up hands-on “maintenance” workers for the mission field to partner with those already out there who are called to evangelism. They are also passionate about couples and families doing ministry together and regularly do service trips and local ministry with their 3 young boys. As YWAM Sunset Country continues to grow our goal is to help fill a need within the Body of Christ maximizing the reach of those in ministry and as a result bringing Christ to all the Nations empowering young and old as we go.
To Every Tribe
To Every Tribe exists to extend the worship of Christ among all peoples by mobilizing the church, training disciple-makers, and sending missionary teams to plant churches among the unreached. Calvary Baptist Church has partnered with specific missionaries from To Every Tribe serving the First Nations People in NW Ontario. They are actively living in remote communities laboring to evangelize, disciple, and equip locals for the work of the gospel.
